The Sinestro Corps

“In blackest day, in brightest night, Beware your fears made into light. Let those who try to stop what's right, Burn like his power... Sinestro's might!”

That is the oath of the Sinestro "Yellow Lantern" Corps.

Trapped within the Central Power Battery of Oa was a space parasite known as Parallax. Parallax instilled great fear and was the reason for the impurity in the Green Lantern rings that rendered them useless against the color yellow.

Sinestro was the mentor to Hal Jordan and one of the greatest of all the Green Lanterns. Sinestro never really saw eye to eye with the Guardians and used his power ring to instill great fear into the hearts of those who did injustice. The Guardian's banished Sinestro to the Animatter Universe. It was on the planet Qward in which Sinestro joined forces with The Weaponers. He forged a yellow power ring and the Weaponers sent him back to our universe to seek revenge on the Guardians.

After being defeated, Sinestro returned to Qward and started to forge enough rings to make his own Corps and defeat the Green Lanterns once and for all. Due to the fact that the Sinestro Corps were so wide spread and killing so many GL Corp members, the Guardians had no other choice that to rewrite the Book of Oa and grant the Green Lanterns the use of lethal force on any member of the Sinestro Corp during "The Sinestro Corps War".

The Dharmalars: SOS-316

When Craig stopped doing the "Make Your Own Kind of Music with Scott and Steve" podcast three years ago, I was pretty disappointed. Three weeks had past and I had come up with an idea to gather some other Lost podcasters and die hard "MYOKOM" fans to send some audio files and do a show. Armed Ryan's laptop and my friend Ben, we started to record reviews based on the episodes that Craig missed in hopes that he would return.

The idea worked! Craig returned with Ryan Howard and made the announcement that the Dharmalars would continue on his feed. I remember listening to that show and thinking, What? I had fun doing the show, so I figured that it couldn't hurt doing a show. I mean, i was already talking about Lost with Ben, i might as well record it. People seemed to enjoy it, so the show went on.

After three years of doing the show, I just could not go on. I have been struggling all season to keep up with the show. It takes a lot of time out of my already busy schedule and of all the things in my life going on right now, this, unfortunately is the most expendable. I love this show to death. Just talking about canceling it makes me upset.

I love the show with all my heart and I have had a blast over the last three years editing and posting it. I just wanted to let everyone know that I will continue to check emails, post on scottandsteve.blogspot.com and check the myspace page. I highly encourage everyone to check out The Transmission, The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack and especially The Lost Initiative with Kim and Aimee. I hope that Jimmy continues the Lost Score. He is a major part of the dharmalars and my favorite.

It is hard to say goodbye, but i hope that i see you in line for the Lost Panel at this year's comic con!

The Green Lantern

"In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those that worship evil's might, Beware my power...
GREEN LANTERN'S LIGHT!
"

That is the oath that Hal Jordan takes as he charges his power ring and patrols the universe as a member of the Green Lantern Corps. The Green Lantern has always been my favorite super hero since I was a kid. I can't explain why I decided to follow him, but I knew he was my favorite of all the Super-Friends.

For those of you who don't know much about the Green Lantern Corps it is pretty simple. The Green Lanterns are pretty much the same thing as Jedi, but they each patrol a specific sector of the universe. Once a Green Lantern dies, his power ring, his or her main instrument in justice, is then thrust throughout the sector to find a worthy replacement. The ring scans the area for an individual who is has strong will power and who is without fear. The leaders of the Green Lanterns is a governing council known as The Guardians. They are small impish men and women who wear white and red robes and have blue skin. They live in the center of the universe on the home planet of the Green Lantern Corps. This planet is known as Oa. It is on Oa in which the Guardians build a giant power battery that keeps the Green Lantern's rings charge.

The Power Ring is the main weapon used by the Green Lanterns. They can use these rings for just about anything. They can create energy fields around the ring bearer and use these fields to fly through the universe. A member of the corp can create any tool necessary from the ring through will power. Anything a Green Lantern can think of, the ring can create! The ring can also function as a scanner and communicator with other Green Lantern members. It is an all purpose tool that really comes in handy. The one drawback is that the battery that powers all the Green Lantern rings has an impurity. That impurity makes the power ring useless against anything yellow.

For the last few years, Geoff Johns has been writing Vol. 3 of the Green Lantern story line. and i have to tell you, it is better than any blockbuster film that has come out over the last five years. The story is epic, the twists and turns and character developments have been outstanding. The creation of a Yellow Lantern Corps is fresh and new and exciting, yet so simple that it's insane that it hadn't been thought up before. The Sinestro (leader of the yellow lanterns) Corp War was so epic, but is nothing that is going to compare to this years big story line titled "Blackest Night"! More Lantern Corps have popped up in the Universe and I am going to cover all of them throughout the rest of the year!!

STAY TUNED FOR THE BLACKEST NIGHT!!

PUSH - Review

On Saturday I received a text message from Dylan. "Push is rad". That's all it said. I was somewhat interested in seeing this film. Ever since I saw Pitch Black in theaters I have had this sort of fascination for non-summer blockbuster sci-fi films. Usually they totally blow, films like Jumper and Ultraviolet come to mind. I wanted to like Ultraviolet because it was made by the director of another small sci-fi flick called Equilibrium. So I am really weary of checking out one of these films. Since Dylan gave a ringing endorsement and Stevi didn't have an interest in seeing Push, i decided to check it out today. Armed with a Christmas giftcard I would have very little regret if the movie blew.

I have to tell you, this movie is not as rad as I had hoped, but i definitely was not disappointed. The movie sets up the world that the characters inhabit within the opening credits. Long story short, offspring of individuals that were experimented on by Hitler's scientists run around the world and try to kill each other.

There are Pushers, Sniffers, Watchers, Stitchers and so on. The film centers around Chris Evans (johnny storm) who has the ability move shit with his brains! You have probably seen the commercial where he is making guns float around a room. He is joined by a girl played by Dakota Fanning, who has the ability to see different possible future scenarios. Together they are the Brains and Muscle who are thrust into a super over the top conflict that is full of twists and turns.

I thought that the movie was pretty good and the payoffs with the twists and turns were pretty well worth it, but, i think in the hands of a more seasoned director, could have made this a really great little film. There should have been so many more "Holy Shit" than there actually was. I also feel that this movie may have suffered from editing. I have a feeling that the deliberate pace of the film may have not pleased some test audiences, so the movie was cut down to get out only the "necessary" information, while losing some of the character arcs and intricate mythology that i feel was sorely lacking.

All in all i thought it was a pretty good movie. It was what it was, but i would love to see a directors cut, especially since i have this sneaking suspicion that the film was also cut to give it it's PG-13 rating.

Two of My Favorite Shows!

Two of my favorite shows on television just got smashed together into one awesome super show! While all other shows get the DVR treatment, LOST and Ace of Cakes are two shows that I always watch as they air.

I heard that Ace of Cakes was going to do the cake for the 100th episode of LOST celebration and that the cameras for both Ace of Cakes as well as the LOST season 5 dvd crew were gonna be rolling their cameras!

The above picture, that I found hidden on the net, is a reaction of Elizabeth Michelle seeing Charm City's LOST Cake for the first time! What could be better than two of my favorite shows coming together? How about Jorge Garcia wearing a Dharmalars shirt for the festivities!
